Adoption Process
Adoption Process
Important! Anyone who is interested in adopting a kitten MUST provide a home conducive to the temperament of a Ragdoll. These cats are bred specifically to be docile. They are not outdoor cats, and should never be let outside. Their predominant nature is to love, and be loved by their humans. Encounters with wild animals, or even dogs with strong prey drive, may result in harm to your Ragdoll, and this must be prevented. Homes with cat friendly dogs, and other cats, typically do well with Ragdolls, and most families will have no issues adding a Ragdoll to their home. This breed is also very social, and doesn’t thrive with long periods of alone time. If you have no other pets and work long days, we would encourage you to adopt 2 kittens together, to ensure they don’t get lonely. We do offer $100 off the price of your second kitten to families adopting 2.
How you choose your kitten
Here at MjsRagdolls, I am often working off a waitlist. The waitlist is kept in the order of when your deposit is received. I cannot hold kittens without a deposit. I also do not accept deposits on kittens that are not yet born. Once a live litter is born, I will do a “head count”, and contact those families on the waitlist with a litter announcement. I will allow 48 hours for a response, and if I do not hear back from you, I will assume you are not interested in a kitten at this time. Next, I will accept a $400, non-refundable deposit for each kitten in that litter. I accept Venmo, Zelle, or you may send a personal check (please contact me for the mailing address). Once the kittens are approximately 7-8 weeks of age, I will work down the list, matching up families with their new kitten. It’s important to me to make sure the kitten’s personality fits with their family, not just their looks. If for some reason, a family doesn’t find their perfect match in the current litter, they may choose to wait until the next litter is born. In this way your deposit is transferable, ONE TIME ONLY. Please know I will always do my best to make sure everyone is happy with their pairing.
Taking your kitten home
The price for pet kittens is $2000-2200, and your balance is due the day of pickup, UNLESS you plan to pay with a personal check, that will need to be sent out the week prior to pick up. No kittens will be released without the balance paid in full. If you are adopting 2 kittens together, your second kitten will be $100 off. If you’ve adopted a kitten from me in the past, and you’d like another, your kitten will be $100 off. We feed our kittens Purina Proplan kitten canned and dry food. We would encourage you to keep your new kitten on the same food we feed while transitioning to their new home, to avoid digestive upset. After they have properly settled in, if you would like to switch to a different brand of food then you can slowly start mixing in the new food to get them switched over. The litter they’re using here is Worlds Best cat litter. You’ll also need toys, and a scratching post as well.
Upon pickup you’ll receive:
Your spayed/neutered kitten
Age appropriate FVRCP
Deworming
Veterinary wellness check
Health record
30 days free Trupanion Pet Health Insurance
Contract with genetic health guarantee
We are able to help with some transport, within reason, free of charge. Longer distances can be arranged, but will require delivery fees.
